Ayurveda Day 1- Diet
For the next three days, I will be on a liver cleanse diet.
Morning
After my morning routine outlined in the previous post, it is time for my morning cocktails. The first is the Green Drink. It contains:
1 T. Aloe Vera Juice (I was supposed to get the detox-specific version but couldn't find it)
1 T. liquid chlorophyll
1 dropper Liver Enhancer
2 droppers Liver Supreme/Red Clover Mix
4 oz. unsweeted cranberry juice, not from concentrate
4 oz. water
Then the detox tea:
1/4 tsp. whole cumin seed, 1/2 tsp. whole coriander, 1/2 tsp. whole fennel, 1 inch fresh ginger (I used dried), 1 mint tea bag. Steep for ten minutes, strain into a thermos, drink throughout the day until gone.
Lastly, the protein shake:
2 scoops rice protein powder
4 oz. water
3 oz. rice milk
1/2 c. frozen blueberries
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp cardamom
My doctor advised me to prepare all of the drinks and have them ready so I could more easily choke down all of my tablets, a total of 10. They aren't small.
The Green Drink and the tea are pretty good. The shake has a good flavor but a nasty consistency. Rice protein is not delicious and creamy like whey or soy. It is chalky, chunky, and gross. It is not appealing.
I can have as many protein shakes as I need to not feel hungry during the day.
At dinner time, I make a vegetable soup with ghee (clarified butter) or olive oil, vegetable broth, spices (turmeric, curry, garamasala, cumin, coriander, pepper, hing), and Braggs Liquid Amino Acids. And vegetables, of course. I can eat as much of this as I want.
I can not have cruciferous vegetables or nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, or bell peppers).
With dinner I take my tablets again, including the Triphala. I also add a probiotic supplement. I have more Green Drink, this time with ground flaxseed added.
At the end of the night I have a sleep cocktail:
1/2 cup almond milk
4 strands saffron
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp cardamom
cinnamon
This sounds really good and I'm eager to try it.
